Default recommendations wanted

I make so much money playing Texas Hold'em that I think I should purchase some durable goods before I lose it all back. Seriously considering buying a laptop PC and would appreciate any feedback on product recommendations. Price range is anything below $2400.

Thanks.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. I'm a complete techno-idiot, so don't ask me any technical questions, but the thing has always worked great, not one problem from day one. Solid and dependable, but probably at the upper limit price-wise.

I travel all the time, and I have Sony Vaio that I paid about $1200 for. 8gb hd, PII, about 500mz. I had to install an aftermarket modem, but since then it has worked great.

The best advice I can give you is to buy the smallest laptop you can find. Sony makes one with a 10" screen that I really like for about $1400. The reason you want is small is so you can just throw it in your suitcase instead of having to lug around a breifcase to carry it.

a 1500 computer will be woth 25 bucks in five years. but a high quality flyrod, and in your case a good compass, would be worth much more forever.

buy at costco as they let you return if you dont like it.

or invest in land then when you get old and decreped like me you will have plenty.

I've got a Dell. There were a few minor issues but Dell's on-site service was great.

Definately take the on-site option with whatever you get. Much better than mailing it in for service and being without it for a week or more.

My friend borrowed my new compaq laptop and proceeded to immediately burn out the motherboard. Compaq picked it up in three hours, even providing a special computer box via Fed Ex and had it back within 18 hours. Brand spanking new. Can't complain ever about Compaq's service.
