Staying on the Strip... (non poker-related)
OK, this place is a wealth of information and experience, so here goes...
Four (4) college friends turning 30 this year want to do it in Vegas. We plan to stay on the strip for location, since most haven't been to vegas. However, with some going back to grad school, others with recent or soon to be kids, we hoped to save some $$ by sharing one room. So the question... What's with the damn $35/person/night for 3rd & 4th person in each room? Do they really enforce this sh!t? We'll stay off the damn strip and get 2 rooms for the same money (before the extortion) if they're serious. That's crap that they have the balls to ask that with a straight face. Maybe $5-10 pp/night for the 'hastle' of cleaning the room with extra people, but $35?!? More people means more money in the casino and more food bought, etc. I'm paying for the room, I should be able to put as many people as the fire code will allow in it. Anyway, all advice (even if I'm called a cheap bastard) would be appreciated. |

Re: Staying on the Strip... (non poker-related)
You are a cheap bastard but it takes one to know one and I am as well.
My advice, don't tell them you have 3-4 people staying. You think they have security on every floor to make sure no one has an extra guest or two? OK so you can't get 4 seperate keys at registration as that may be tough to account for but I figure your old buddies so will probably be out in pairs at least. |

Re: Staying on the Strip... (non poker-related)
We had an extra person in our room this weekend at the MGM Grand. They never knew.

Didn't you guys ever go on road trips in college? Just book the room for two people -- they'll never know how many people are actually staying in there. -- Homer |

Re: Staying on the Strip... (non poker-related)
Just remember that in most hotels on the strip you have to show a room key to get to the guest elevators, pool etc. So be sure to travel in pairs

Re: Staying on the Strip... (non poker-related)
It's been my experience that they don't really care how many you have in there. More players for the casino.
I always tip housekeeping $5/day when doing this though. |

Re: Staying on the Strip... (non poker-related)
I just stayed at the Mirage for 3 nights with some friends. I booked the room under 2 names and asked for 2 queen sized beds. Then at check in I made a little small talk with the hotel rep and asked for a couple extra keys as my friend and I use 2 wallets on vactation and wanted to leave a key in each wallet. blah blah. She handed us 4 keys, no problem. Have a great trip.
