what, if any, strategies in HPFAP can be applied to an no-limit game

Most of the basic concepts still apply, stuff like hand reading, pot odds, semi-bluffs. A solid grasp of the fundamentals certainly can't hurt in a No Limit setting.

i would figure pot odds usually didn't apply because you may be forced to put in a bet that is 1/2 or even larger than the size of the current pot.

That is exactly why they do apply. You can make it too expensive for someone on a draw to call your oversized bet.

so how do you know if you want to try for a flush when you have a four flush on the flop, or an open-ended straight.
