Default 2-3 Table SNGs vs. 1 table SNGs

I was wondering what the pros and cons of playing 2 and 3 table SNGs compared to 1 tables are. It seems like more variance, but if you're really good you'd be getting a better ROI% over time. so which is better in the long run?

I haven't played many of them, so this is really only a hunch.

Variance much greater as obviously you won't money nearly as often.

ROI significantly higher as there are less good players (they're playing sngs), and you are given more time to enforce your skill advantage.

The tournaments last significantly longer, you can't 10 table them (looks like there are usually 6-8 $33s running), and it's only really lower limits.

I'm sure they're pretty profitable, but I don't think they're nearly as profitable as single tables.
