Default Raising in LP with limpers behind

I have been refraining from this but I think I should do it more often.

How big a hand do I normally need to do this and how much should I raise (adjusting for the amount already in the pot)?

For example if I am in the cutoff and there have been 2 limpers and I have 88, is it a good idea to raise?

Normally I just call and hope to flop a set.

I think calling with 88 in this case is the best play most of the time. With a bigger hand, of course raise, but make sure it's more a pot-sized raise than the typical 3-4x the BB raise (so if the blinds are 15/30 and there are 2 limpers, you make it a minimum of 165 to go).

It depends. What are the stack sizes, what hands might the limpers have, how has your play been, do they fold a lot to a raise, etc....

I like a raise here. You've only got three people left to act and only one that might have position on you. Of course, if you get reraised, you've got to muck. If you get called, it's landmine time (be careful where you step).

Unless, you've seen one of the limpers limp in with AA or KK. Then call and see the flop, fold if you miss.
