Default Was in Detroit this weekend for the 1st time

Visiting a buddy.

He lives just off 9 mile road. Area is not too bad but very close to 8 Mile (obviously) and from then on it starts to get a little sketchy.

Got to see a Red Wings game, Michigan football and a Lions game all in the span of 3 days.

Interesting to see the difference in neighborhoods as you drive to and from downtown. Some very sketchy areas and some very nice areas (read: suburbs).

Not somewhere I would want to live...but alright to visit.

If you didn't go last time the Royal Oak area has a nice little bar district. Shouldn't be too far from 9 mile if i recall.

Correct. Also if you get to go again, within Detroit, Greektown (the area, not the casino) can be a nice area at night. Pretty festive and still safe. Get a couple of blocks away from it and then...

Honestly, Detroit is much worse than this. Take your description, change the street and team names and you described any metropolitan area in the world.
