Aces up and a high-only river raise (8/b)
I felt very comfortable in this hand - including the river raise. Sixes and aces were dead, amongst a ton of low cards, so I felt that the raise on the river to extract more value from Seat 1 would be best. I just didn't think that Seat 5 would reraise my check-raise on the end.
What are your thoughts? 7 Card Stud High-Low ($10/$20), Ante $1, Bring-In $3 (converter) 3rd Street - (0.80 SB) Seat 1: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___brings-in___calls Seat 2: xx xx K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds Seat 3: xx xx 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___completes Seat 5: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___calls Seat 6: xx xx 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___folds Seat 7: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls Seat 8: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls 4th Street - (5.80 SB) Seat 1: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___bets Seat 5: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls Seat 7: xx xx 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___folds Seat 8: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___calls 5th Street - (4.90 BB) Seat 1: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___checks___calls Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___checks___calls Seat 5: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___bets Seat 8: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___checks___calls 6th Street - (8.90 BB) Seat 1: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___calls Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___checks___calls Seat 5: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___bets Seat 8: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___calls River - (12.90 BB) Seat 1: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] xx___calls___folds Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___checks___raises___calls Seat 5: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] xx___bets___raises Seat 8: xx xx 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] xx___folds Total pot: (19.90 BB) |

Re: Aces up and a high-only river raise (8/b)
I'd consider folding 5th, villian likely has a low and very well may have a straight draw.
Since you made it to sixth, I say call. You could also bet out and let villian raise, likely knocking the other two guys out of the pot and getting it heads up. River: Call, don't raise. Villian is likely to 3 bet no matter what (he knows he's got half the pot locked) and that will likely knock out seat 1. That leaves you with two pair and hoping villian doesn't have one of the two remaining sixes. I hope you took half this pot... |

[ QUOTE ]
I'd consider folding 5th, villian likely has a low and very well may have a straight draw. [/ QUOTE ] Two sixes and two aces are dead, and Villain is very, very bad. I can't give him credit for that in such a huge pot. [ QUOTE ] River: Call, don't raise. Villian is likely to 3 bet no matter what (he knows he's got half the pot locked) and that will likely knock out seat 1. That leaves you with two pair and hoping villian doesn't have one of the two remaining sixes. [/ QUOTE ] Most people in this game freeze up when check-raised, and usually just call, hoping to get half with their ragged razz hand. I was about 95% sure that villain does not have a straight, and when he re-raised, I knew it was idiotic play by him. If he just calls, Seat 1 calls and he makes an extra half-bet. [ QUOTE ] I hope you took half this pot... [/ QUOTE ] Yup. |

Re: Aces up and a high-only river raise (8/b)
You apparently had a good read on seat 5. Good job. I would have folded 5th & only called the river myself.
