Roger Allen LaPorte, a 22-year-old member of the Catholic Worker movement, immolates himself in front of the United Nations headquarters in New York. 1971: John Emil List slaughters his entire family in their Westfield, New Jersey, home and then disappears. And, of course, the worst of them all: 1973: Ringo Starr releases "Ringo" album Cheers!
