Default $11: lvl1 AT on buttom, fold pf to a raise from BB?

Sorry the converter is not working on me now. Party $10+1, third hand into the game. Fold pre flop to the raise at BB? I think fold to the re-raise on the flop should be correct. Don't want to gamble so early in the tourny anyway, and he was representing an over pair?

The initial limp is ok if you can play it well postflop. The fold to the raise preflop is standard though, no way I'm calling there.

What would you call here? AA, KK, QQ, AK, even JJ I would raise initially. Fold all other pair and AQ-?

You would raise AA, KK, QQ, AK, and maybe JJ to begin with.
Besides that, I might limp/call w/ JJ if I decided not to raise it, TT, and maybe some mid PPs, and that's about it.
Remember the Gap Theory.

fwiw, i'd much sooner limp/call with 33-99 than AT. in fact in this exact situation i'd probably limp and call this raise. implied odds are pretty favorable in those situations. with AT, all you have are reverse implied odds if you flop TPTK against a higher PP (like in this case), potential reverse implied odds if you flop TPGK against an ace with a better kicker, or no implied odds if you flop an ace and it kills your action.

Thanks a lot. Sometimes I limp/call a small-medium raise with any pair in any position, because of the implied odds of hitting a set Vs. a big pair. Of cause in early position I will think about the possibility of getting re-raised, and other considerations such as chipstack and blind size, but in general, is that a bad practise? Definitely I don't always do this, just from time to time.

i just wanted to sya that in my previous post (i should read over these things), i meant i would limp/call in this exact situation *with* 33-99. Not with AT. should have made that more clear.

edit: and no, i don't think, in general, limp/calling with low pocket pairs is a bad practice in level 1, as long as the raise is around 3xBB or less (like it is here).
