Default a 4/8 table that really wasn\'t.

I am a 3/6 and 4/8 live player. I have never played above 4/8

On Saturday, I played at a 4/8 live table in a small card room. Only 2 tables are playing one is 4/8 and the other is 8/16.

I take an empty seat at the 4/8 table. The 8/16 is full. At the the 4/8 table, a majority of the players are playing while waiting for a seat to open up at the 8/16 table (apparently a whale was there). These players all seem to know each other and are talking about playing in other casinos at 10/20 and 20/40 tables.

These guys are better than I am, They are more aggresive and use position better. They were tough to read. I thought about getting up and leaving (driving 45 minutes home) but then thought if I can get 8/16 or 10/20 experience at a 4/8 table what the Hell.

I guess going to another casino where a game at your level that would have better action is out of the question?

Well, I wouldn't let anyone tell me I shouldn't play in that game just like I wouldn't let anyone tell me I shouldn't play blackjack. If you know it's -EV but want to play anyways for fun or to improve your skill, fine. I think the only mistake would be to keep playing just for pride because you feel like a puss for leaving.

I believe you do what you feel comfortable with. If you can play and pick up somethings about your game, then so be it. But if you didn't feel comfortable, then jet.

This question kinda reminds me of a craps player playing on the $5 table betting $25 to $100 a pot and then getting mad at others. If they were talking and kinda snubing you, then screw them and leave. You don't need that crap. But, if they were just chillin, playing, and waiting for the next table, then play and see if you can improve your game. Why not?

However, I do caution on the fact you stated that they all know eachother...That would put you at a slight disadvantage. Not for colusion, but the fact that they know eachother allows them to play eachother better. You will have to wait a few oribts before you get a read or so.
