Default Casino-on-net software is pretty damn slow.

So, I just finished starluck and planetluck and trying casino on net. The software takes like 20 secs to play a hand vs. like 6 secs on the lucks. How did you guys overcome this? Did you just wager more or stick to $1 bets all the way? I'm already done with 1/4 of the money I need to wager ($500) and it's a pretty good bonus but it's going to take forever making $1 bets with this software.

Multihand bj is the way to go. The variance at 3 hands is equal to the variance of one hand x 1.5 bets.

You sure about that? I just tried it and lost like $25 in like 10 mins...it seems a bit too high for me.

LoL that short of time? It's called variance bro. All gambling games have that. I cleared the bonus at 3 hands x $3-10 bets depending on how I was doing.

Okay, so i drank some redbull/vodkas and am appearently gonna be up all night, all hopped up on caffiene, so here's a detailed answer to your question, as it's something i've been thinking about a lot lately. (by 'detailed', i mean 'rambling/wandering, maybe O/T', and by caffeine i mean... well, why blow that, eh?) BBBBZZZZZZZTTT! *sighs*

the ammount that you wager per bet (hand) depends on a couple things, your bankroll, and your willingness to potentially bust, and your anticipated/desired hourly earnings. I'd like to talk about that last one...

When i started whoring casinos, i was already making around $20-$30/hr while whoring poker bonuses and beating $1/2 LHE (for a measly 1.8bb/100... *sigh*). I decided that, in order for casino whoring to be worth my time, I wanted to earn more than i made at poker, hourly, especially since blackjack gets old after a while.

like most bonuswhores, CoN was one of the first casinos that i whored after the 'lucks', which are pretty damn fast as far as blackjack goes- i managed to crank out over 800 hands/hr at planetluck, but at CoN it was more like 250/hr (after i thought i'd memorized the optimum play). as a noob (and i assume you are if you're doing CoN) it may take even longer as you re-check your strategy every few hands.

*** a little side note about that last point- check the optimum strategy whenever you're even a little bit in doubt as to the proper play, it's easier to learn slowly than to unlearn a bad habit... i still forget to hit on a 12 with the dealer showing a duece, sometimes... how much has that cost me over tens of thousands of hands of BJ? probably only about $20 or so, but STILL, that's a damn steak! ***

So:

In order to make the same ammount i made at the lucks, betting $2/hand, i would have to bet approximatly $5/hand at CoN. The bigger the bet unit, of course, the more variance that one will experience, so you have to either A: be comfortable with some more risk in order to increse your hourly rate, and/or B: have a bankroll that can (and thus should) handle that variance. obviously, if you're trying to build a poker roll (which is why i started whoring the casinos) and are just getting started, you'll want to play it safe and grind it out. If, on the other hand, you already have a bankroll, you should be using larger bets, to increse your hourly rate, and your long term +EV (EV actually goes up as the bet size does, or more accuratly, as your RoR increses, a counterintuitive idea from BWs... i still don't totally understand that...)

Look at it this way... at CoN, at 250 $1 bets per hour, (i believe the EV is around $190, and the WR is like 2k no?) that'll take around 8 hours! $1/hand Blackjack is sooooo boring, and that comes out to around a measly $24/hr- i actually make more than that at my 'real' job. ugh... why even whore for <$30/hr? this is supposed to be easy money, right? For me, adding the concept of hourly earnings into my gambling calculations, using that to determine which site i play at and which bonuses i whore, has helped in my vanilla, non-poker life as well. i now tend to at least consider (though not to the point of obsession) what the hourly bottom line is for just about EVERY activity i partake in is, weather that be going to the bar (hangovers cost time that could be spent earning money or burned off having more fun), taking a gal out, whatever. It's made me a much more efficient person in general, and has given a HUGE boost to my bottom line, gamblling or otherwise. Time is money that doesn't grow on trees and all that [/mixing metaphors]

GL either way, but i suppose i'd reccomend using at least $5 bets, as the RoR is still very reasonable (less than %5, if my mental calculator is working- i am a little drunk...) If you have an established poker roll, say, 2k or more, why not use $20-$50 bets and clear that mother NOW... you do stand a fair chance of busting that way, but your hourly rate (EV wise, long term) will be well over $100. easy money, baby.

apologies if my drunken math is a little off. doing boozy math gives me hangovers. i'm fairly sure that the concepts are more or less spot on, though... maybe... just maybe: don't listen to me i'm drunk.

going to OOT. they're more fun.

Yeah come on.. you've got a $400 balance to start with and you're betting $1 at a time? Try betting at least $3-$5 per hand, you'd still be quite unlikely to go bust. I did the CON bonus with a neteller deposit so had to wager $10,000. Did it with a lot of $10 flat-betting and increasing up to $70 when I was running good and ended up with $814. The EV is the same or better, just the variance is increased and variance can be your friend but you have to embrace it first!
