Default Math

Before making profit.. in the long run how many % of the games should I win in a 1 table tournament (10 players)
The turney fee is 10%
The prize pool is:
1 st: $500
2nd $300
3 rd $200
I think around 40% but Iīm not sure – thanks in advance for any reply.

? It would have to depend on what place you get... but if you're going by strict 1st, 2nd, and 3rd...

1st: Win 22% of time
2nd: 36.7% of time
3rd: 55% of time

Assuming getting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is equally likely, you need to get in the money 33% of the time to get EV=0.

It depends on your distribution of 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. If we assume it is even (but it never is) you need to be in the money more than 33% of the time to make money, 11% of each.

is there rake?

is the buyin $100 or $109?

and it all depends on your distribution of 1/2/3

u can be itm only 20% of the time if they are all 1sts and there is no rake...

By in is $110 including the rake.
What I mean is if you end up in the money (3 players).
40% of the time you just break even after.. letīs say 1000 games.
Or what?

I guess it is like this:
1st: Win 16.66% of time
2nd: 33.33% of time
3rd: 50% of time

I tried hard not to respond to this thread but COME ON!!! Are you kidding me? This is extremely basic math. If you want a simulation model that goes way beyond what you are asking then download the free program from this link:

Sorry, you are right my question is unclear so
I will ask another way:
A man play 100 games in a 1 table tournament with 10 players.
The buy in is $110 for each game. (all included)

All we know is that he end up as number 1, 2 or 3 in 40 out of the 100 games.
60 games are lost.

Nr 1 win $500
Nr 2 win $ 300
Nr 3 win $200

How much will he most likely earn or loose?
