Default Jeff Goes To Foxwoods!

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to mention that I will be at Foxwoods Friday and Saturday night with a probable Sat. afternoon detour to Mohegan Sun to avoid the chaos of the Fox tourney (and just to check it out). I will probably be playing 10-20 the majority of the time with some 5-10 Kill possible (as well as 10-20 or 15-30 stud). JTG and others who may be there, PM me if you're interested in meeting up for a bit. Ok...now a few questions...

1) What's the number to call to put your name on the list at Foxwoods ahead of time? Mohegan?

2) How does the kill work at Hold Em? The killer has to post a $10 blind correct? How do the other blinds remain $2 and $5...that seems strange.

3) Does 15-30 Hold Em ever run at Fox? Is 20-40 always tough (as the impression has been on here)?

Anyway, hope to see some of you down there and I can't wait to get the hell away from D.C. for a few days.

Thanks,
Jeff

1) Fox - 860.312.5374
Sun - 888.226.7711 (ask for the poker room)

2) Once the Pot goes up over $100 the winner has (this actually could be an option - JTG will be better at answering this) to post a $10 extra blind and the LEVEL of play goes up to 10/20 which can create a wild game with an extra $10 in the pot.

3) I didn't see a 15/30 and haven't heard of one there but I have heard the 20/40 is the toughest on the continent.

There is a Sat. tourney at the Sun also. The tournament really explodes the board at Foxwoods with loose players and I didn't find it chaotic. Good luck and enjoy!!

Jeffage -

I won't be able to be there this weekend; too bad it would be nice to meet you. I will be back there June 6-8 though.

1. Foxwoods toll free # is 800 442 1000. Hit #, 3, 2. Those menu options get you the poker room. Then ask for the 5/10 board.

2. That's how it works. It FW's the kill is at $100; it's $65 at MS I don't like kills as the winner has to essentially post a live straddle. And the limits are 10/20 for the kill game. For me, I would rather just play straight 10/20.

3. I don't think they have a 15/30 game. The 20/40 has several regular very good players. I'm sure if you try it out, they will try to push you around early. It's definitely not to time to go weak/tight. I have had good success at the 10/20 table. Read my trip report from last week. There are some good players there; but there are also some fishy types with bankrolls too. There is almost always one game going, and usually one must move table. Even the 20/40 table breaks up occasionally; the downside is that some of them move to the 10/20.Last weekend they even had a 50/100 game running most of the time.

I hope to meet up with you sometime; Good luck and play well.

Just beware of any table with a middle-aged guy wearing a cap that says "CAPTAIN"

this thread title reminds me of the Curious George books I used to read. But then I turned 19 and I moved onto more challenging reading material.

Mohegan is just as crowded as Foxwoods on Saturday morning/afternoons. They also have a morning tournament that gets just as many players as the Foxwoods one does. It makes the games in both places great from noon time on though.

2) Yes, the blinds stay $2 and $5 on kill hands, but it costs $10 to limp.

3) Foxwoods hasn't spread 15-30 hold'em since before Christmas. 20-40 is the game now. The game can be very tough on weekdays, but from what I've seen it can also be very soft on weekends. When there are 3 or 4 games going and the regulars get spread out it gets much better. I don't know how often it goes now, but Mohegan has been spreading a 10/20 half kill game lately. That might be a good option if you are looking for something a little bigger than 10/20 but easier than 20/40.

I'll be there Friday, I'll send you a PM with details.

Jeff,

Looks like the "chief" is gonna give me permission to go Friday night with JTG. I'll probably wear my Syracuse fleece pull over. I'm sure JTG will send a pm with the info.

See you there.

Joe

One point that wasn't made but I'm sure you'll find out.. the killer posting the $10 kill blind (not optional) still acts in turn unlike a live straddle. If you post UTG, you act first and can make it 20 to go, if you are on the button, you act just before the blinds. The kill blind doesn't affect the order of action.

The kill is forced, thanks for answering that. So the blinds stay the same 2&5? If you win a hand and post the kill in the SB will the the SB be 10 and the BB be 5?
