this is probably posted 100 times already..
when keeping statistics on your play, is there particular simple software one should use. or is it better to keep a notebook?
recommendations? hopefully freeware?

Pokertracker or Pokerstat are both nice if you play online at the right sites. While I was playing on UB, I had set up a pretty simple excel spreadsheet to calculate my hourly earnings and Standard Deviation.
