Default where to live in LA?

I am planning to return to LA the end of June or the beginning of July. I need to find a place to live, it is so hard to search online without being able to visit the place, if anyone has any leads please let me know.

randy, if you just want to be near poker, then downey is best. it is near the bike and commerce clubs. safe clean town. but no fun. small apartments around 1200 a month.
at the beach is the way to go. hermosa or mahattan beach is tops and about 20 or 30 minutes drive to the clubs not in rush hour. costs more but worth it.

Thanks Ray, I am returning to LA. I guess my post wasn't clear when I said wehre to live I meant if any landlords or apartment managers are out there I am looking for a place to live (Downey is my first choice).

Default my choice: chateau marmont...

...its not near any casinos but who cares. live like belushi, snort coke all day, throw tv's out the window, hitch hike on the sunset strip. thats the way to live in l.a.

btw, downey is an aweful unliveable shithole. do yourself a favor and go a bit farther down the road to longbeach or san pedro.

this site will cost you $60, but it's worth it:

www.westsiderentals.com

you can also use latimes.com or apartments.com

change "downey" to "LA county" and youve got it just about right!

Now, now, I live in L.A. County and it's very nice. I look at it as the other Silicone Valley. And I look a lot.

The nicer areas of L.A. County are, though, very expensive.

Change LA County to "Anyplace in California where a 2 bedroom apartment can be had for less than $2k a month," and you have it about right.

Yes, my apartment out here is an unliveable shithole.
