$215 - AJo L5 with 10x BB, facing UTG minraise
Since my other 215 thread self-immolated, let's talk about this hand from later in the same tourney. Villain is not really tight, but not particularly loose either.

Re: $215 - AJo L5 with 10x BB, facing UTG minraise
Pushing is suicidal I think. I'd call and see what develops on the flop. I would certainly not SnG this though, so don't get any cute ideas.
Now, if the flop comes something like AT3, then it's a sticky situation. I think there's a good chance I go broke on a J-high or A-high flop barring extreme circumstances. |

Re: $215 - AJo L5 with 10x BB, facing UTG minraise
I dont know any of the players and I dont play 215's so take this as you may...
I think no matter what, Calling is the worst thing you could do. Late in tournament play going over the top of players is a GREAT way to win chips. Yes sometimes people make bad calls, yes sometimes they have you dominated. But I think that the times you win + the times they fold are extremely +EV, but only if used sparingly. In this situation its kind of on the edge, You dont REALLY need those chips yet. But they WOULD put you in good possition for steals later in the game. -Aaron Who folds AJ here 85% of the time because he is extremely Weak/Tight. |

No, pushing is the worst thing you could do. I definitely see an argument for folding, but getting 3:1 I call barring reads. I see it as this.
Calling>Folding>>>>>>>> >>>Pushing |

[ QUOTE ] No, pushing is the worst thing you could do [/ QUOTE ] How so.... [/ QUOTE ] I think you are behind here way more often than you think. I don't know this guy specifically, but I honestly don't think he's minraising A9 or 66. We're beat, but we have the odds to call and hit something. I am sure I can be persuaded into thinking folding is far superior to calling, but I highly doubt you'll convince me pushing is anywhere close to being the right play. |
