Default what are the laws in regards to holding a charity poker tournament

i want to run some charity poker tournaments in my area (north jersey) for the victims of katrina. now how would i even go about looking into this kind of event. should i go through city hall and see what they have to say? anyone here have any experience with this sort of thing?

I would suggest asking a local lawyer or law enforcement official

The laws on charity gambling vary wildly from state to state. Talk to a local lawyer.
