Was just debating with a friend about this, did a search but couldn't find anything, I have a feeling this may have been discussed before however. So, which poker game is the most difficult to become a skilled player in?
LHE, NLHE, O/8, PLO, Stud, Stud8, Triple Draw, 5 card draw? I realize the question is quite vague and there is no definitive answer, as each game caters to somewhat different skills, but just curious to see what people think. |

Like you said certain games cater to certain skills but just to answer your question and get some interesting talk going:
LHE - toughest to become very skilled at O/8 - easiest to become very skilled at *I'm least familiar with the draw games mentioned. |

The only way to know is by playing them. I found razz to be the worst. I realize it's not on the list.

PLO: Thats a the toughest game.
NL Holdem: Number 2 Limit Holdem: Number 3 Stud: Number 4 Thats just me, it just seems that bluffing is not really a do or die weapon in limit games like it is in NL and PL games and no not because of the big bluff or anything stupid like that, its just that in NL and PL you can make stuff happen with crap if you bet at just the right times and push just the right people around. In limit games you have to catch cards at one point. That separates NL and PL games from limit in my opinion, the thing that separates omaha and holdem is that omaha has more combinations and the bluffs and overall betting can mean a lot more things than they can in holdem. But thats just what I think, I am probably wrong, so what do I know... |
