Default Flopped straight and flush draw: serious failure to extract

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed) converter

I needed to win more on this hand, obviously. Suggestions? Raising the flop is obvious. Was that my only chance?

MP3 ($43.25)
CO ($61.37)
Button ($48.40)
SB ($33.85)
BB ($50)
UTG ($51.30)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises to $2</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls $2, <font color="#666666">5 folds</font>.

<font color="#CC3333">UTG bets $3</font>, Hero calls $3.

Raise flop, other than that, there's not much you can really do. The A didn't hit him, he probably has something like 99-JJ that just got scared of both the A and the 4-straight on the board. Sometimes no one just has anything worth playing back at you with.

Well, you know this but....raising the flop some amount, any reasonable amount, makes a bigger pot for the turn, so your half-pot bet there will be larger. Doesn't look like he had much anyway with his turn-check.
