Default botching a hand after a decent flop

Villain in this hand isn't anything special. A little too loose PF and weak postflop. (Even weaker than me which is shocking.)

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

SB ($1641.31)
BB ($382.97)
UTG ($440.05)
MP ($162.48)
Hero ($309.90)

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, MP calls $2, Hero raises to $8, 2 folds, MP calls $6.

Flop: ($19) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks.

Turn: ($19) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP bets $20, Hero calls $20.

River: ($59) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: $59

With villain being weak/not tricky, I think a bet on the river after he checks is the best line. Do we agree?

Are you regularly checking behind on the flop, whether you hit or not, after you raise pre-flop?

I like the check behind on the river. Except for a weaker queen, what calls a river bet? I think this is a good example of controlling the size of the pot with TPGK and a pretty sketchy board. NH, IMO.

Don't be so hard on yourself!

I dont like this one. Bet the flop. You raised preflop then you hit. Check behind on the turn. If he checks again on the river, bet 1/3-1/2 pot. If he bets into you call. MOst likely he had nothing at all and was trying to steal. As for the river, you definately shoulda bet behind him when he bet, don't give him a free showdown just cuz u are scared you are beat, or you will lose ALOT of value in the long run.

I generally bet that flop.

Given your check, I like the rest of it.

On that specific flop, when few turn cards scare me, yes. The 9 was actually one of the cards I didn't want to see.

To voltron, I think a weak Q or a 9 calls a river bet from me quite often.
