Default For you non-country music listeners...

Is there one or two country music musicians you'll listen to? I find it interesting that it seems like everyone I know that hates country music seems to have like one act they like. It's usually something older like Johnny Cash, never one of today's crappy pop country bands. Anyway, I go through cycles where I'll listen to a lot of the old (pre-1980s) country music...Waylon, David Allen Coe, George Jones, etc.

There's not any for me. I will watch a Shania Twain video though.

I can listen to George Strait, and have on occasion been able to listen to a few female acts. Garth Brooks has some ok stuff. Saw a Dwight Yokum concert once (dragged their by my 1st wife and it sucked). Cheryl Crow warmed up for him though and she was great. More country sounding than she is these days.

Other than that, not much country in my life. Hank Williams Jr. is worth the time, especially when he teams up with other musicians on special projects.

Kasey Chambers

She had a song on the first Soprano's soundtrack, it was good so I bought a couple albums. I think it would be defined as "new" country.

Casey Chambers is awesome. As are Allison Krauss&Union Station and Jimmy Dale Gilmore. Allison Krauss is almost bluegrass but she's a helluva singer and hot, too.

Gilmore is more western than country. An aquired taste, to be sure.

In terms of the mainstream bands, I love Pam Tillis, Martina McBride and Patty Loveless' voices.

I was gonna get Sirius radio mainly for there alternative country station but I don't see it listed anymore.

Alan Jackson - Chattahoochie (sp?)

Cash has some ok songs. I think most of country is garbage though and will only listen if forced to by the driver of a car and even then I will whine and bitch
