Default Top 1 or Top 3

I'm looking at some of my results over my first 500 SnGs, and I find that my ITM + RoI percentages aren't where I want them. I come in first 17% of the time, and ITM 33%, with a low RoI. If only the winner gets paid, my RoI would be almost 55%, assuming the same results.

Now, if this were to happen, there would obviously be consequences. Would n00bs play less SnGs if this happened, due to only a 10% chance of cashing, rather than 30%? Would the play become much tougher? Would you still play SnGs if they became winner take all?

I think 2p2ers would like this to happen, because 2p2ers should be in the top 1/3 of players, but I'm very interested in what you guys think.

Paying the top three allows for more mathematical errors by reasonable players and instinct players.

That's good for us.

believe it or not,ppl actually get paid to figure out which payout is better. The site already figured out 50/30/20 is better for them.
I sent an email and they told me because they thought it was the best payout.

in the short term though, right?

i would assume in the long run that if you are a better player, winner take all would appeal more than top 3

Top 3 reduces variance.

Having a top 3 payout structure basically allows for more mistakes to be made by players who don't understand CEV vs. $EV considerations. Recreational or beginning players have a very, very poor understanding of this.

He means the point where $EV != CEV to the largest amount.

I'm not sold you have much understanding about STT fundamentals to begin with. Your ITM certainly doesn't seem to reflect an understanding of bubble play.
