Default Bubble decision vs. other big stack.

Poker Stars $50+5 1-table SnG. 4 players remaining.

Blinds 100/200

Jedi (UTG) has ~5300
Button short stack has ~950
SB big stack has ~5600
BB smallish stack has ~1400

Jedi has J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and raises to 500 pre-flop
button folds
SB big stack calls
BB folds

Pot = 1200
Flop 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB leads out for 500.
Jedi raises to 1500
SB re-raises to 3000.

Jedi... ???

Read on SB: Passive, trappy player. Didn't try blind stealing much. Early on in the tournament, smooth called with AA vs. a Pre-flop raiser and then busted him for all his chips with an all-in raise on a rag flop.

What was I thinking here? I was thinking about making money for sure, rather than going out here in 4th place against the chip leader. It's possible that he limped in with a speculative hand that either hit a straight or 2 pair. When he re-raised me, I figured it was better than something like A8. If I call here, I'm playing for all my chips, so I'll re-raise all-in or fold.

based on your read I would fold and hope to finish in the money.

i like a slightly larger raise preflop so you can throw out some of the marginal hands that would have connected with this flop.

I'd raise about 1000 preflop, quickly fold to any aggression by the chip leader.
