Ok, I guess my first post wasn't well recieved, and I guess I pissed off a few people. All apologies. Here's my question: If you are playing a live game with inexperienced players and there tells are very straightforward, such as sighing with poor hands and practically announcing they are going to fold, as well as obvious facial tells when they are holding a good hand, is it right to keep sucking money out of them or should I let them know that they are being too obvious with their tells? It seems immoral to exploit such flaws. BTW these are for the most part friends of mine. Also, I am unfamiliar with the definition of "troll" at this website.

[/ QUOTE ] First off, you won't come across tells as much as you think. Second, they are called ATM's for a reason. IFf you have a conscience about it being immoral, why are you playing poker to begin with? It's gambling. As far as a troll goes, I guess because you pissed off some people with your first post, you would be considered a troll. |

Maybe I should've explained a bit more. Me and a group of friends play frequently, but every once in a while we get other friends who are new to the game and do have bad poker faces or ATMs or whatver. The point is these people I can read just about every hand. These arent high stakes, and I know its poker, but it does put them at a severe disadvantage when they are just trying to have some fun. It's not a casino or on-line where i know its not an issue.

OK...
So what's the point? You can read your friends? Big deal. You won't be able to read people you have never played against at a casino. |

These ones are simple
1) In general you shouldn't think poker (as the subsiquent taking of money) is immoral. If you do you shouldn't play 2) It is most profitable not to tell people these things but if they are your friends you probably should help them learn the game. No value in taking all their money if you only play for fun. |

Yes, I am aware that poker is about taking money, but this is circumstantial. It's a friendly game, not on-line. Thanks to The Bends, I'm satisfied.

Buy your friends masks to wear when they play.
