Default another PF SB push any 2 question...

blinds 150/300
Button (2400)
Hero (2425)
BB (2030)
UTG (1145)

Hero is dealt (6h,5c)
folds to Hero in SB

Is this automatic given BB's range is going to be top 15% at the loosest?... probably more like top 8%.

It's funny because I probably wouldn't hesitate to push A4o, but when I see 56o I instinctively want to muck. In reality though my EV is probably not much different between the two.

So, is this automatic?

Actually if the BB is that tight then pushing 65 is much better than pushing A4.

This is not automatic for me. What is your read on the BB? Have you been open pushing into him alot? What's the buy-in?

Personally, pushing is not automatic here for me. If I have any particular reason to believe that BB is more likely to call than normal, I can fold here and sleep well at night.

If you've been pushing alot and you're against a loose BB at a lower buy-in, you'll get spite called here more often than you'd think. I think that sometimes this "push any two" stuff gets a little overdone.

I think it's close, but I believe A4 still is slightly better than 56 because it still has outs against 55-KK. It is also not dead to better aces because of split possibilities.

in theory, BB would be nuts to call a push with anything but a top hand. so you're going to pick up those 450 dead chips 90% of the time, and even when you're called you'll suck out to a likely first place finish 25-33% of the time (rough guess).

basically, with 4 left you can prey on your opponents' fear of going out fourth to build the big stack for when the table goes down to the final 3, optimizing your probability of finishing first.

is this okay or do you want more?
