Re: Its Opening Day!
Hey, it's before June, so you know, maybe it will be the Cubs' year. Or not.

NL: Cards, Dodgers, Phillies,WC Astros
AL: Yanks, A's, Twins, WC Red Sox Series: A's over Astros (Arizona is done - no way do the two aces repeat last year's numbers, and many of their offensive players are way past their prime as well. That ship has sailed...) |

Re: Its Opening Day!
Cubs and Red Sox in Series, but, of course, I make the same pick every year. And the odds on that are . . . ?

Re: Its Opening Day!
My beloved Cardinals can still finish undefeated.
Was good to see Tino get off to a good start after his debacle of a first half last year. |

Re: Its Opening Day!
Through 2000, Tino's lifetime numbers for the 1st half of the season were 114 home runs and a .271 batting average; for the second half, 115 home runs and a .275 batting average. The only real strange numbers were in 1994 when he hit .215 first half and .348 second half.
I like the guy a lot, but he's not much of a player any more, and never really was, except for 1997 and maybe 1995. What do you think of LaRussa? |

Re: Its Opening Day!
I'm not a huge LaRussa fan, but I'm forced to admit he's better than most alternatives.
Like many Cardinal fans, he grudingly earned my respect the way he held the team together through the many tragic events of last year. I think his real problem is that he needs a co-pitching coach. Duncan is so terrific with these veteran reclaimation projects but he is absolutely awful developing young talent. We need someone to do the latter leaving Dave to continue his great work with the vets. |

We have a winner
JTG with the best regular season predictions. Clark sucks the big one.
