Am I calling too much?

I think I am correct to bet the river, however when villain raises it looks very much like he has hit a flush draw. Villain is loose average aggression. I was trying to convinse myself he might have something like AJ, but I dont think thats very likely because he would have raised the flop or turn with a hand like that.

I can't see how this flop could have helped UTG+2 so I think he is probably betting an over pair. The 3 bet by MP3 is of more concern. If it was a typical player I would assume I was up agains trips but this player can be wild at times. So I decided to call down, not sure if this is correct or not thought, any thoughts?

I'll take a stab at this...(standard disclaimer applies: I stink at poker).

Hand #1: Against an unknown I'm definitely calling this down. Too much could be going on here: he could have AQ, he could be semi-bluffing with a lone K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], he could easily have KQ. He could just be bluffing a scare card. He called out of the big blind, so he doesn't necessarily have more than one high card. And yes, he could have a straight or trip 4s or a flush. Our hand is not a powerhouse, but we do have Top Two Pair here. And if we are behind, we still have 3 clean outs to a full house.

Hand 2: Looks a lot like hand #1, minus the 3-flush. Tell me what villain had on #1, and I'll tell you what I'd do on #2. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] I think I can find a fold here. Pot is small, board is paired, assuming you lost hand 1, looks like villain likes to wait for the turn to raise his strong hands and we may be drawing to 2 outs.

Hand 3: I'm raising this preflop. I don't always raise 99 (it's like jogging...I know I should do it every day, but I don't really like it and sometimes I just don't want to) but against a blind, 2 posters and a limper, I'm definitely putting in a raise.

I'm trying not to be influenced against betting this river by the fact I know you're getting raised. Straight and flush draws come in. Blech. But you are ahead many many more times than you are beaten, so yeah, bet, and I crying call the raise.

Hand 4: Given your read on MP3, I definitely call down.

Hand 1: nicely done.

Hand 2: I like the call down as you sill see check/raises here from weaker kings and sometimes Q's, and sometimes a diamond draw or something ridiculous.

Hand 3: An easy river call here I think. He will have a hand like 9J or QJ or even AJ here often enough to make it profitable

Hand 4: I like a call down keeping UTG + 2 around

So, to answer your question, no. I think these calls all needed to be made. If you happen to be going through a downswing, don't let it affect your confidence with hands like these. You are playing correctly.

Thanks for these comments, you are absolutely right in your assumptions, I am currently going through a down swing and I think it is affecting my confidence. As you can probably guess I lost all the above hands.
