Default Car stereo?

I have about 80 GB of music on an external hard drive. My car is older and I want to get a new stereo for it. I want to find one where I can just plug my external drive into a USB port and play music from it. When I told a couple of salesmen this at Best Buy and Frye's they just got a blank stare on their face and said they did not think they had anything that would work. Some of the stereos had USB ports, but they said they did not think my external drive could interface with the stereo.

Any suggestions on what product or products I should be looking at? Thanks in advance for your help.

I would just get a stereo that has MP3/WMA capability and burn a few data CDs. That's plenty of music per disc and you won't be searcing through 80 gigs of music every time you change the song.

or perhaps try getting an mp3 player and a head unit with an aux input.

My kenwood HU has both aux in and mp3 playback (which is nice, because it shows song title on the screen). Plugging a HDD into a HU is just... no. :blank stare:
