Hersh's article on Perle

I just read the article by Seymour Hersh in The New Yorker that got Richard Perle so upset.

Doesn't look to me that there is anything in the article that Hersh could be sued for. The most damaging statements about Perle are made by Adnan Khashoggi. Hersh says, "There is no question that Perle believes that removing Saddam from power is the right thing to do. At the same time, he has set up a company that may gain from a war."

The company in question, Trireme Partners L.P., apparently invests in companies dealing in technology, good, and services that are of value to homeland security and defense. Perle is a managing partner of this venture-capital company. At the same time, Perle chairs the U.S. Defense Policy Board and has great influence in the Bush administration. If these facts, as reported by Hersh in the article, are so, then Perle has no case and should resign either from the company of from the Defense Policy Board.

I don't like to make statements without having some sources to draw on, but I know when I spent some time looking at how the Defense Department limits or is attempting to limit press access to war zones, I saw quite a few negative responses to the Defense Policy Board and its members. I wonder if you or anyone else knows more about its purpose and makeup.
