Default Does anyone else think about Holdem all day long?

For people that have real jobs, do you think about the moment you're gonna get home and play holdem all day long? This is scary.

Yeah sound like any old computer game addiction. Or any addiction for that matter. Possibly problem gambling. Maybe you should talk to the psych forum.

I been there with lots of things -- computers, soft drugs, poker -- the addiction is definately worse if you have an easy, boring job.

In problem gambling isn't the thought process different compared to just wanting to play hold em? for example, an addicted hold em player would want toget home as soon as possible to boot up their computer and play some online poker. An addicted gambler would probably thinking along the lines of "I can't wait to get home so I can play (insert casino game of chance) until Im broke!"

Yeah gambling addicts want to lose...I think the biggest misconception is that you cannot be a winning player and an addict. When i first got hooked I was definitely addicted. When you think things like "It takes two days to withdraw from my account and then another 2 days for my account to be in the red before I have to pay the fee, and I get my paycheck in 4 days, so I'll be OK" My brother actually deposited money onto poker knowing he would be charged a $35 overdraft because he KNEW he would win it up and then cover this fee.

PS- I'm at work right now and I'm on 2+2, what does that tell you?

I think the fact that I went to bed last night after winning 3 straight $109 SNG's makes me want to go home and play more.

Add me to this list. Though I wouldn't quite call it an addiciton; I don't run home and start playing poker right away. I eat, watch some TV, relax, then play a few hours of poker at night...so it's not that I'm "craving" poker. And my job is as easy and boring as they come.
