Default What do I do here with a straight flush draw?

How do I play my straight flush draw here?

Seat 2: PureButter (410)
Seat 3: beeeduub (1745)
Seat 7: greenmile2 (590)
Seat 8: capt23 (635)
Seat 9: jcchou (2235) (Hero)
Seat 10: DuckmanDrake (725)
greenmile2 posts small blind (15)
capt23 posts big blind (30)

** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to jcchou [ 8h, 9h ]
jcchou calls (30)
DuckmanDrake folds.
bigslim2221 raises (90) to 90
PureButter folds.
beeeduub folds.
greenmile2 folds.
capt23 folds.
jcchou calls (60)
** Dealing Flop ** : [ 3d, Th, Jh ]

How would you play this? Please include what you would do under various situations (i.e. would you bet? if so, what if you were raised? would you check and just call?)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

okay...so just assume i'm a dumbass and that i called with that hand when i should've folded pre-flop.

with that as a given, how should i handle it AFTER the flop?

thanks!

Check-raise, as this is about the best flop you could possibly hope for with 98s, but as you're out of position, it's going to be a nightmare to extract value from, and you're always going to be on a draw, and could get blown off on the turn whatever you do. Enjoy.

i had led out on the flop with a 1/3 bet. he raised 3x, i re-raised 3x, he went all-in and i called. He had QQ...50/50 at that point, but i didn't hit.

was it stupid to lead out the betting on the flop?

I would have let it go after the re-raise. Great, you're a 50/50 to win, so that means, 50% of the time, you're now out of the tournament at level 2. Hmm. Not very +EV is it? Personally, I'd have gone for check-raise, unless he bet a large amount (e.g. the pot) then I'd probably have let it go.

Given the fact that your opponent showed strength pre-flop and again on the flop, I try to keep this pot as small as possible until I have something more than 9 high.

The reason being that he is one of only two stacks at the table who can severely hurt you. At this point in the tournament I don't want to get into a pissing contest with him while still on a draw. I try to play this hand cheaply.

Fold PF.

On the flop, I'd bet it and be prepared to go all-in.

Folding to the all-in is a bad idea. The pot is too big at this point.
