Default Expected Variance

I often find myself winning money in the first hour or so at the table, and then watch it dwindle down as time moves on. The thing is, I play once every few weeks and when I do its for 2-4 hours a session.

Assuming one plays sound poker, what kind of variance is "normal"?

Also, is it more amateur play, lack of time played, normal, or a combination of any 3 that is the reason for the initial rise, and eventual downgrade?

I know this is a pretty vague question-- if you want, I can repost with more details... I'm just looking for general opinions.

Thanks.

Default Re: Expected Variance

Please post these questions in a different forum, probably the beginners forum.

It looks like you are actually be interested in getting better, but you are going to get people mad if you keep posting here.
