Default The new ride...

Its a 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan, 800cc 4-stroke. Its got the carburetor, not fuel injection. And actually, I'm 21, and this is my dad's, but its kinda both of our little toy (which means he had final say in what bike he got, I'll just get to learn how to ride it).

Any other bike fans out there? Don't think this comes up enough, but I'm interested in hearing experiences and tips for beginning riders like me.

you might as well put a California Highway Patrol emblem on the tank, and a blue siren on back.

cheers!

Take it easy when there's cars about. Never ride in a spot where a car driver going the same way as you can't see you without looking around, and always assume he'll be pulling in/out in front of you at any moment.

Car drivers are donks with observational skills of a retarded slug.

I have an '82 Seca tricked out Cafe Racer style: Clubman bars, V-Trap 4:1 exhaust, Pod-style carbs. Flat black paint job. I love it. Summer riding season is just getting rolling here in Seattle and it is gonna be a blast.

That ride looks fun. I prefer a more upright profile myself but that baby looks like it can really hum.

Word. Minnesota has a written test to get the permit, then a skills test you can take at any time after that for your permanent license, so I won't be running around for at least another week or two. Got to tool around in it a little bit last night though once we got it home...its got some get-up on it.
