Default Help! Dry Run, What DoThe Pros Do?

Hi!

The past 2 weeks have been incredibly bad on Party Poker.

Typical True Situations:
I raise with KK, one player calls with A7 off, the river shows the second 7 on the board for a set!

I raise with QQ, one player calls with K6 spades, the flop shows 3 spades for a flush!!

I raise with JJ, one player has KK...

I raise with KK, one player calls with 58 off and hit a straight on the river.

Yesterday I had 99, and ended up with a full boat, but lost to a straight flush!!!

Etc., etc, only the past 2 weeks. Cannot get any break, get rivered most of the time.

I'm starting to become kind of religious! What do the pros do when they have a dry run like that? They go on vacation? Play roulette? Play Russian roulette?!!

Thanks for any advice!
Jacques

They don't do anything differently. This sort of thing is inevitable, and they understand that.

They stop focusing on results.

"They stop focusing on results."

Thanks, that's interesting. In another words, keep playing your best game, and the results will show, again, eventually.

Like someone once said, poker is the most difficult thing in the world to earn an easy living...

A good thing to try is to edit your partypoker.ini file and adjust the settings to match your playing style.

I've just gone through a real bad run and have changed my settings to hopefully solve the problem once and for all.

Here is how I have changed my settings, YMMV:

reverse_domination=off
runner_runner_flush=no
crack_AA=never
set_over_set=high
two_outers=none
cheap_straight=disabled
KK_god_mode=yes

If these don't work, you might want to try:

beer=cold
scotch=rocks
computer=off

From one bad beat sufferer to another -- good luck.

If anyone has some better settings, please share.

And also look through each hand and see if you could have played them any better. Just because you have a hand that is better at the start and they catch up to you on the river does not mean you are playing them ideally in the first place.

Did you lose extra bets in there when you were beaten?
are you playing too passively before you get there?

Everyone has bad-beats and lots of them.

Also - when you win a hand you should be doing the same thing (asking if you played the hand correctly).

If your response is that you don't need to ask that because you already know that you play 'correct' poker then that is not a good sign.
