Trapping a maniac
This was a $20 rebuy tournament (about 5 tables total). The villian had been a maniac throughout the tournament, and had already rebought once. Here is a typical hand:
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (7 handed) converter MP1 (t710) Hero (t1980) CO (t2190) Button (t2155) SB :#A500AF(Maniac)/ (t725) BB (t2065) UTG (t2175) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG calls t30, 3 folds, Button calls t30, SB :#A500AF(Maniac)/ raises to t725 (All-In), 1 fold, UTG folds, Button folds. Final Pot: t815 Results in white below: No showdown. Maniac wins t815. So, on this hand, when I noticed that she had limped in, I thought this might be an opportunity to trap her. I don't ever remember limping with AKs in this position, but I thought it was worth a risk. It was nice that a little luck came my way. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t30 (7 handed) converter SB (t725) Hero (t1980) UTG (t2190) MP1 (t2125) MP2 :#A500AF(Maniac)/ (t815) CO (t2020) Button (t2145) Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 2 folds, MP2 :#A500AF(Maniac)/ calls t30, CO calls t30, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks. Re: Trapping a maniac
Well played, but I don't think that this is that big of a deal; you are getting all the chips in against 99% of opponents anyway.
