Default Party 10/20 - I think my opponent is trying to tell me something

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) converter

My opponent is more than average aggro but not a maniac. How do you proceed with this hand, and do you cap the flop?

Preflop: Hero is Button with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

Flop: (9 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)

icepoker,

Who's the opponent? The vast majority of the time I'm calling the turn and river bet.

you've gotta call, this could be AK as easily as a higher pocket pair...i'd still pray for an 8 though, just in case.

Raising preflop is standard.

I call down, but why didn't you raise this preflop?

With a board like that I would three bet with any hands that I would have raised with preflop from the small blind.

I sometimes raise this here but clearly not always. Maybe that's no good.

Just to play devil's advocate in this specific circumstance.

You have a much better chance to win unimproved against two opponents than against three or four.

You'll have the initiative on ugly flops that will afford you opportunities you might not have if you don't raise.

At the point the action reaches you, you almost certainly have the best hand.
