at first i was asking myself what he would call with preflop and then i remembered that they will do that with anything

playing with loose passive players like this is most frustrating because all they want to do is see the flop.
BUT they will usually fold to your flop bet if they didnt hit the board somehow....even low pair/middle pair or draws and this is what you might ask yourself next time. his call is telling you that he has something but is afraid to bet.

the board became pretty well connected on the turn and this is where you got reamed....i may have checked or bet less here

do i have the discipline to lay it down? probably not

BTW - dont post the results next time and fix your post (Hero/name), you get more replys that way

In future HHs don't edit your name to Hero at the beginning then leave it for the rest of the hand. Just makes it more confusing.

I'd raise a little more preflop after 2 limpers, probably make it an even 100.

I don't see any reason to push the flop, I think your post-flop play is fine here.

Where would you have layed this down? When you were a 4-1 favorite on the turn, or to the river check?

I push the turn. There's about 400 in the pot, and that's over 40% of your stack = push turn, and lose when he hits his 4 outer.

I'm not a big fan of overbets postflop without a good reason. I usually want a call here, not a fold.

And he had 8 outs.

every bet he called, he did not have the odds to call, but he did, so every call earned you some $ in the long run

i think this is fine...if u push and he folds, u don't get the extra ev from him calling...sure it didn't work out this time, but it will more often than not...

all u can do is set the odds such that they don't favor him and hope he bites...that's what casinos do with roulette/craps/slots/etc
