Default signs at commerce casino

There is a sign at Commerce that asks the players not to throw their cigarette butts on the floor, even though it's been illegal to smoke in there for over five years. (This is the same sign that has the word "expectorate" followed by "spit" in parentheses.)

And there is another sign, that sticks up above the sign-up board, that begins something like, "Any players who abuse the dealers will be punished ..."

And at that point, I was much impressed. I was thinking that maybe a sincere, enforced effort by management will improve the behavior situation down there. Then I read the rest of the sentence: "... by taking a 20-minute break."

Huh?

The sign had a whole bunch of other words on it, explanations and definitions and such, all there just so that someone who is stuck and steaming takes a break. Then I heard that they don't enforce the penalty anyway. I found it all quite strange. I think the management would be better off to advertise that you are allowed to abuse the dealers and players, rather than admit there is a problem (which they do by posting the sign) and attempt to deter bad behavior with an absurdly mild penalty that doesn't get enforced anyway.

But hey, it's not really all that rough down there in LA at the poker rooms. I played for 12 hours and I didn't see a single knifing.

You missed the knifing while you were in the bathroom. Some dispute over a little toy police car or something.

The sign in the men's restroom: "Due to sanitary reasons, employees must wash their hands after using the facilities".

Good thing they included the first four words. Otherwise their employees would just be washing their hands mindlessly without understanding the reason why.
