Default Chrome-plated handgun?

Couple months ago I got a glimpse of what had to be a fully chrome-plated .38 at the range. Slide, frame, grip (maybe it was shiny white plastic grip but could've sworn it was plated), all gleaming. I have to have one (or two), but when I search for chrome-plated handguns, all I find are police reports about gang activity and how popular chrome-plated firearms are with criminals.

Does anyone know who's manufacturing these things? I need a lead here. BigSteve I'm looking toward you man.

Try out Smith & Wesson. It might have been something like this , only with an aftermarket grip.

There are also lots of aftermarket outfits that specilize in chroming your weapon. Go to your local gunshop and ask them if they have any ideas.

Upon further review of your post it sounds like you are describing a semi-automatic, not a revolver. Semi-autos don't usually come in .38, so you might be thinking about either 9mm or .45. Smith & Wesson make several chrome models of their semi-autos as well, or you might consider looking at Springfield Armory, maker of some of the finest semi-autos in the world.

Yah, .38 or .40 / 9mm is what I have in mind, semiautomatic... .38 semi's are on the market, SW has a 1911-ish .38 model & Sig has a pretty nice .38 that's on my short list as well:

I see that S&W has a polish finishing option in their custom gunsmithing page, but what I saw seemed a little more snazzy than their photos...

I think I'll take your suggestion and just call up the gun shop. Thanks for the tips

What you saw was either a nickel plated or polished Stainless Steel pistol. Nickel is a fairly good protector from rust and corrosion but it’s fairly soft since it’s applied over a coat of copper or brass. It can peel with use. SS is more durable; the big disadvantage is that you need to keep the slide lubricated to prevent galling. Both surfaces make the sights hard to see in bright sun.

Hearing a .50 DE being fired makes it sound like the building is falling down around you. Awesome.

I just found this gun online for 1450, is this a good deal? Probably a terrible impulse buy, but that thing is [censored] awesome.
