Wonderland and Boogie Nights

Ok so I have watched both of these, wonderland is about John Holmes right? At the end it says he died of aids.

So I watched Boogie Nights tonight and wondered what happened to Dirk Diggler since it never said and find that this too is based on John Holmes.

So both these movies are based on the same guy? And did he die of aids or get murdered?

Dirk Diggler was real but he was not John Holmes. Brock Landers was fictional. There is a scene in the movie where Dirk references John Holmes playing Johnny Wadd.

PS. I realize that Dirk Diggler was also fictional but I have watched this movie dozens of times and all of the characters have become real to me.

Boogie Nights is awesome. It is one of those movies you can have going in the background at all times. Like casino.
