I recently decided to go wiht the Oreck and was happy that they had a refurbished model in the store. I am still in the 30 day trial so I might take it back and get a new one, but they are well worth the money.

Consumer Reports and my wife both think highly of the 12 amp Kenmore. I don't know the exact model name, but the one we have is a maroon-ish color canister.

Yeah, new. Ok, it was probably more like $120. Whatever, baller.

The tube thing is an issue. However, the lightness of the vacuum makes up for it since your sister makes me vacuum every damn day.

i would recommend going to a used vacuum cleaner store and picking up a used tristar, kirby, miracle mate or something of that ilk. these babies kill shelf vacuums, but when they are being sold door to door are priced so ridiculously high you would wanna puke. well at a used store u can get one of these dirt destroyers relatively cheap. i used to sell miracle mate vacuums and i personally have never seen something clean even close to that effectient, but they are very very pricy, but if i had the money id pay 250-300 for a used model, which is basically what the factory charges distributors for them
