Default Civil Servants Wages -- Canada vs. US

I'm curious about how much civil servants (in particular nurses and teachers) get paid in Canada and the US.

Specifically, I'm curious about relative values (how much they get paid in relation to the income per capita) in their own countries, and perhaps in their relative values between countries in terms of material well-being (use the Big-Mac index vs their absolute wages?).

Tne reason this comes to mind is that I was watching American Splendor, where a mail clerk in a hospital lives in semi-poverty in Cleveland.

Cost of living calc for US and Canada.

Didn't check to see if these jobs you mentioned where in here, but it's a start.

I figure you could look up the salary averages for the jobs you mentioned then use the first link to figure out what the difference might be.

For the Canada side, I really can't help.

Hope this helps a little.

monster.ca has average salaries for different parts of Canada & different types of jobs. I have no idea if civil servant is on there, but it's a start.
