1st hand $11 Party

Zero read as it is the fist hand. BB's reraise could be anything...in the $11's, but I find more often than not it is A7 K7 etc.

Am I way off here with this reasoning and action?

I do the same, and I get shown K7 and A7 a lot. But, hey, maybe someone has a better line.

Hes BB, what makes you think hed have A7/K7 over 74/73/34/56?

First off i bet TT preflop to eliminate crappy hands on the blinds or people who would limp crappy hands in an unraised pot from LP. I realize TT is fragile so i only risk about 50 chips with these blinds. Now you have a reason to be betting/raising heavy on this ragged flop, though im still cautious. Theres a rule thats been quoted dozens of times on this forum and in many books:
"Dont risk your entire stack in an unraised pot."
Obviously nut hands are exceptions. My read is your behind and im wondering how the all in went.

Yeah, he showed 5 6 for the straight. But my question is not regarding the result of this hand but rather how often will I have the better hand here, and is this the correct play or a correct play over the long run?

When the 2nd raise gets put in by the same player on the same round, overpair is rarely good.

Hrm.

Personally, I'd put him on AX, Q7, etc. with his 30 bet. Such desperate BB bets are usually the BB's outcry against having so many people in the pot (as I like to look at it, this might not exactly be the case, of course), and usually they'll fold to a raise.

With his re-raise, I'd certainly start thinking of two-pair, a set, "slowplayed" AA, KK, QQ, JJ.

A straight here would be the least of my worries (in the long run).

Certainly on level 1, most of the time you'll be up against a different situation where you limp with TT, get raised preflop, or see a flop of "A9J"r with someone holding JT, A4, etc -- where I generally feel like I wasted a perfectly good hand like TT.

Try raising with TT, perhaps not 3xBB (although on level 1 this doesn't amount to too many chips), maybe 2.5xBB, something out of the ordinary. Then limp some. Try different ways of attacking TT in the early rounds, see how you like it better.

I change between 2.5 to 4 with 0.5 intervals during first rounds, for instance (of course much more with limpers).

Back to this specific hand, I don't think you're -too- off with your decision, but it might be slightly overkill considering he re-raised.

More than often, I'd fold and avoid confrontation.
If you had >JJ, I'd immediately push like you did (then again, you would've raised pre-flop too, hrm).

Good, interesting hand, I'll be thinking of this the next time I see TT under my hands.

I play it exactly the same. You'll see idiots with gutshots and other draws and A7/K7 often enough for this.
