What is ROI and FE???
What does ROI stand for and what does it mean?
I know that FE stands for fold equity but what exactly does it mean? P.S. Feel free to offer defintions of other useful terms that I did not ask about. Also I am fairly new to single table tourney's but have had some success at the $20/2 so far. |

Re: What is ROI and FE???
You are the button 4 handed with 72o. You have t1200 and the blinds are 150-300. The blinds both have ~t2000. You assume that if you push the blinds they will fold to your push 65% of the time (i pulled 65% out of my coolo). 65% of the time you will win t450. 35% of the time you will be called. You have t450*.65=t292.50 FE
As an aside, you also have some Caught Equity. This is a measure of how much you'll win when you are called (most likely by a better hand) and you suckout. So say you'll lose t1200 60% of the 35% you are called and you'll win t1500 or t1350 (depending upon which blind calls you) 40% of the 35% of the time you are called. You then have some Caught Equity. I don't really care to compute it as this is the edge of my mathematical skill and the numbers came out of my arse anyhoo. But you get the point. Andre |

In other words, it's your $EV per tourney??? [/ QUOTE ] Not quite, it's usually expressed in % terms, not $ terms: (money won - buy-in)/buy-in. |

Would someone please explain a little more about ROI??? [/ QUOTE ] Profit/Buyin So if you have paid 100 to play five $20 tourneys and you won $140 in those five tournaments, you ROI is 40/100=40% |

Re: What is ROI and FE???
1 minute search on google 'return on investment poker'
I found this: Profit/Investment For example, if you play 5 $11 tournaments and finish 1st in one, 2nd in one and 3rd in one and OTM in the other two... Profit is $45 = ($50-$11)+($30-$11)+($20-$11) - $11 - $11 Investment is $55 = $11 * 5 ROI is 82% = $45/$55 Think about the formula in terms of...your return (profit) as a ratio of your total investment in those tournaments. ----- Im a thief and i know it - 1 min on google is all it took though, and im sure there is something easily as good if not better found on this forum, i just prefer google for fast searching. For more info, that search threw up a few business links, the theory is essentially the same. Phill |
