Default Car Problem

My car started having an interesting problem this morning. Whenever I make a turn (i.e., cut the wheels hard, not like around a curve), the driver's side front wheel sounds like it's catching on something every couple of degrees as it turns. So if I'm making a left, it will make this scraping sound maybe 2 or 3 times. Same thing happens if I'm making a right. I took a look at the wheel but it's not immediately obvious that anything is rubbing against it. Any thoughts on what this could be and how much I can expect to pay to get it fixed?

Thanks.

CV Joint.

Front wheel drive car, right? It'll cost a couple hundred. Must be replaced before the wheel falls off.

edit: it makes the sound when you're moving, right? Is it a clicking sound?

If it makes the sound when you're not moving, just cranking the wheel, I'd check the ole power steering.

Thanks, I'll check whether it makes the noise moving or not this afternoon.
