Default 49ers Controversy

I don't see how this story isn't on the first page. If it has already been posted, I'm sure this thread will be rightfully locked. Just saw this story on SportCenter, this is a huge deal:

49ers PR disaster

The 15-minute film, featuring racist jokes, lesbian soft-porn and topless blondes, features the team's public relations director, Kirk Reynolds, impersonating San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom in the mayor's office and other city scenes.

Now the mayor and the city's gay leaders are outraged, the team's owners are embarrassed and Reynolds is leaving the organization. The Chronicle described the film and published an image showing Reynolds with the half-naked women under a screaming headline on Wednesday.

Reynolds called it a "terrible mistake."

The ESPN story makes you realize what the big deal is. For us, it doesn't seem like it is, but when you look at the city of SF you see that it is. There is such a large Asian and gay population there, that you have damn near alienated 50% of your city by this tape. If this were to be made in Dallas or Minnesota I don't think it would be as big a deal as it is.

Yeah, I suspect Niner practice doesn't feature any "Jap plays".

Did you actually watch the video? I did. If you are offended by this you are probably offended by The Chappelle Show, I Love Lucy, and flowers.

Grow up. It was a boring video that they tried to make funny. The "offensive" humor is tame compared to 90% of comedy nowadays.

I didn't say I was offended fucknuts. I think stereotypes are funny, but that doesn't mean everyone else has to like that. I can see how the Asian and gay community could be offended, and that is definitely the wrong city in America you want to offend the gay or Asian community.
