Default JJ hand...is this the right time to check?

So I read about keeping pots small with over pairs and such. I don't fully understand when it's appropriate to do so, so please let me know if this is a situation to exercise some pot size control, and if not, why it isn't appropriate.

MP2's 3rd hand at the table, so nothing to report on him.

Thanks for any comments.

No, the board is very draw heavy and your hand is vunerable. Also at $25NL you rarely need to keep the pot small with TPTK/overpairs - value bet value bet value bet. They'll pay you off with much worse here.
