Top set on monotone flop, 3 handed
MP2 is 10% VP$IP over 90 hands, 3% pf raise, so I think we can put him on something reasonable. Maybe I should've raised the flop, but SB lurking didn't thrill me. Once the turn card comes I'm pretty done with this hand, river seals the deal. Too weak on the flop?

Yeah I'll usually re-raise the flop here, and still shut down on the turn.

Raising this flop is good. I'm hoping that if you're smooth calling you're planning on raising or potting the turn if checked to on a non-spade.

Re: Top set on monotone flop, 3 handed
Yes. Obviously I'm hoping the board pairs, but I'd be much more aggressive after a non-spade turn and the SB gone. That was my concern about coming over the top of the flop bet, that I'd need to make it a large enough raise to push out the [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] draw ($70?) that if the SB were to raise again that I wouldn't be able to get away.
This was a very atypical hand for me. I think I've had so many sets beaten lately that I'm just looking for good places to let them go. |
