Re: Set River Decision ???
.. raises to $40. I had a hard time deciding between raising a call me bet or an all-in bet. I don't think you're going to get his stack by moving in, he's only going to call if he's flopped it.
The check-call, check-call, bet line looks like a monster, but why is a monster betting out only $10 at the river when it's plainly obvious that you like your hand. His actions confuse me.. |

Re: Set River Decision ???
The way this played out, my money's on AKs, A10/A9(maybe suited). I'm raising this to 25 to make money from a weak hand like A9/AT.
Also to avoid a push if he's slow playing the nuts or likes his two pair. Definitely want a showdown here. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't see how you are going to avoid a push if you raise it up to 25$ on the river. Also, what hands can you put him on that he calls a raise on the river w/? i don't see him playing a set this way (there would have been more action on the flop or turn). A purely missed draw bets more than 10$ for the steal (or just check folds). The most likely hands he has from his bet size is Ax[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A's up, JTnuts. But his check call check call lead from such a loosey goosey bothered me and had me seeing monsters the whole way. I guess I just called because I was confused and running out of time. It obviously looked like a blocking bet... Bahhhhhhh anyways -- Villain shows JTs for the flopped nuts. I think I mis-played it and should have lost more money. |

[/ QUOTE ] What I've found at this level is that Villain's line means he's hoping you catch something. On the river, he's hoping the Ace helped your hand and that his weak lead will get raised strong by you. I fell for this line MANY times and got all my money in the middle only to be shown the nuts. I think you played it fine against this particular opponent. When I read the hand, I was thinking, 'this guy's got a huge hand, but I'll pay him off for $10.' |
