Default 10+1 2 Table bubble hand

Previous round in the short stack battle for the blinds I put the villian all-in with K4 and he called with 86 and hit the 8 to double up (promplty losing some of those chips with calling preflop raises and folding the flop ??) , so he seems capable of correctly calling with any two. Whats the best way to play this?

23 suited is ~36% against a random hand, so is this a preflop push due to the pot odds and not wanting to be moved off the hand? Payout structure for these is flatter than 1 tables with 1st-80, 2nd-60, 3rd-40 and 4th 20. Thanks for any input, it felt weak, but i just wasn't sure.

I'm not a numbers guy, so don't expect any fancy ICM or odds calculations from me.

However, 23os is the worst statistical heads-up hand. You would be heads up to a push. I highly doubt this moran is going to fold to a push, why would you want to get more money in with a bad hand?

I dunno though, I could be wrong, so just take my advice with a grain of salt.

This is a pretty tricky spot.

Mathematically, the push is correct (260 into an 860 pot, about 3:1). However, doubling up the shortstack will leave him with t1120 to your t1600. If you feel confident that you will be able to steal enough chips to survive the bubble if you fold here, then fold. If not, call.

You played it fine. He completed, meaning he will probably (correctly) call a push. You have 3-high. Just check. If any part of the flop hits you, or if he checks, then you can put him in. But I don't think you have enough fold equity or hand strength (combined) to make a push preflop correct.

Yeah i was thinking along these lines, the math seemed to indicate that a push was ok, but i was worried about losing folding equity. As it turns out i didn't have much anyway, the big stack called my next push with JTo, which i guess is somewhat reasonable. Thanks for the input everyone, i just thought it was interesting because it really tests the limits what any two really means. I think i probably should have pushed, but don't think it was a terrible mistake.

The right play, no doubt.

He might be playing up at you, with the baby stack, but there's no way you can call that - you're not gonna hit running cards for the straight, and you need to maintain your edge over that guy. Let him get involved with somebody who can afford to take a chance, meanwhile YOU can play up at the next biggest stacks.

I wasn't contemplating calling with that flop...against a random hand with that flop i'm only 15%, so the pot odds, while juicy, cannot possibly justify that. I was mainly curious if people thought i should have pushed preflop to avoid having to fold if the flop did miss me (which it will do most of the time).
